MLK DAY

On MLK day, many people participate in volunteering opportunities to honor the works that Dr. King advocated and fought for throughout his life.  We must not forget that that it was Dr. King that was disruptive, he was a law breaker, he challenged authority, and he shattered the status quo, all in the name of equality, and fighting for what’s right.  What we praise him for now, was hated by many then.  And we all “celebrate” him today for the bravery he had but will be quick to question and follow behind people like Colin Kaepernick fully because it could be a touchy or very uncomfortable situation since everyone loves football.
Great works and progression doesn’t happen if we are hesitant to stand up for what we believe in because it’s uncomfortable. Uncomfortable is good and to see change, we must be the change we want to see.  It’s okay to follow passionate and brave leaders.  Leaders need back up to get them to the next level to improve our communities.  Back then, Dr. King had struggles but there is a holiday just for him. Today, we have many leaders taking a stand that we should be on the lookout for.  If it feels right, follow the movement. Be vocal about it and help make that change.
We can’t keep letting people down who sacrificed their peace for the peace for others.  Let’s not complain about what we don’t like and make sure you’re doing everything you can to prevent it.  Be your own Dr. King this year and be the crowd that marches with other Dr. Kings in your life.

MIND OVER MATTER

Obedience…
This isn’t anything to be drawn out because it’s very simple to obtain, but it takes will power and discipline to see it through.  Now that is not all that simple.
Being obedient comes with practice and building healthy habits for yourself.  Taking time out to meditate and getting familiar with your voice and God’s is important to see blessings manifest throughout your life.  If you aren’t sure which voice is whose, taking 5 minutes out of your day every day will lead you in the right direction on being able to make it out.
Also, when you spend more time with God, your voice and His become one and there isn’t a question into whose voice to listen too anymore.  I say this because sometimes we may be anxious, waiting on something, have a lot on your plate and don’t know which direction to go in.. Being obedient to that voice in your head will 9 times out of 10 save the day and maybe the whole week.  Don’t make it harder on yourself.  When that first mind pops up in your head, follow it. Do it and see how it will benefit you.  If it make sense and feels good, then act on it.
Many miss out on their blessings by not listening to their first mind, to God.  It doesn’t have to be a big victory but little victories lead to the big ones.  Take those baby steps in getting to know your voice.  It is literally a life saver.

 Happy New Year!

The year 2019 is for creativity and inspiration. The year for creative self-expression, relationships, optimism, and inspiration. What I get from this is that if there is a time to get out there and try new things, it’s now!  Start a business, join a little workout class like hot yoga, or anything that will you busy besides your job.
Don’t be hesitant for the new comings of this year and what it will bring.  You hear that every single year but actually do it and remain persistent no matter what difficulties come.  You should always do at least one thing for yourself. Make time for that!  If you want something, go get it and don’t look for the blessing and permission of someone to do it.  You will only see the fruits of your actions if you take them.  With that, of course research, plan and make great decisions if they are manageable.  Be good to yourself in this new year and have some fun.

make memories have fun

The holiday season can easily bring up memories of lost loved ones and the void of them not being here. You want to relive those moments so bad that you can easily miss out on the enjoyment of making new ones for yourself and others that are around you.

Just remember that those loved ones want to see you prosper and be happy. Not down and only missing them to the point that you can’t have that genuine fun you used to have when they were here.
Don’t be dependent on their presence or anyone’s presence to determine your moods and reactions. You should always set your own tone for how you want to feel, whether good or bad. It is great for someone to make you happy and eager to strive for greatness, but you should also yearn for that desire on your own without the want for pleasing others.  You will catch yourself switching up to please everyone and lose the reason and the why you are doing it.

Key in to what really makes you satisfied and don't let your happiness be determined by others.

Even though we are in the holiday season, we have entered graduation season as well.  People from all over are getting their degrees, certificates, etc. to better themselves and help further their careers.  You see the fruits of their labor but don’t forget that you have fruits of your own.  This season, don’t let the hype of others and their successes make you look at yourself and think that you’re not moving fast enough.

Social media shows the good and the end results.  It seems like people got their blessings faster than you because you don’t have a clock on when they post things.  When they eventually do, it seems like they always have good happening to them and no bad because that’s what they want you to see.  You do the same thing as well.  Don’t get into social media comparisons.  Don’t get into the real-life comparisons either.  Someone could look at you the same way and you’re the one thinking you're not getting everything you want.  What is for you is for you and everyone has their own pace in things.

Your time will always come to shine bright but the comparisons will never allow you to do so because your mind is everywhere else rather than in your own business and accomplishments.  Be appreciative of your portion.

christmas gifts

Although Black Friday has passed and most things were on sale then, it's not too late to buy your Christmas gifts, etc.
An easy way to save money which most of you do already is make sure you go to dollar stores for bags, wrapping paper and tissue. Don’t break the bank going to Walmart and other places for the gift wrapping materials.  Most times, you know what kind of gifts you’re going to be so buy multiple bags and tissue already in bulk at the dollar stores to save time and money before you buy the gifts.
Getting the materials in bulk is more beneficial than buying one at a time. Also, make sure you save some good bags that you were gifted in the past years to reuse them and give to someone else. You don’t know how many nice bags I have saved and was able to save money and reuse for someone else’s gift. Make sure you don’t write on the bags and keep the tissue pretty neat. Everything can be used again and it be will nice for others to receive their gift from you and able to re-gift for others.
Don’t be too fancy on the bags and spend too much money.  Make sure you spend little to none because we are only worried about what’s inside haha.  Save them, and re-bag for next year or whenever.  Don’t over do it!

meal prep

Still eating leftovers from Thanksgiving?  I sure am!  May not want to keep eating the leftovers but letting food go to waste and spending more money on it is no fun, so you just deal with it.
I think this way when I try to portion and cook one big meal and put it in separate containers to eat every day for lunch and dinner.  It’s beneficial to buy groceries, cook a meal and spread it out for a few days.  This trains your stomach to take in a certain amount at meals, you’re saving money, and feel better by eating cooked meals.

This portion control keeps you balanced and full. You may change up a few things in the portions if you decide to prep meals for the week so you don’t get too tired of eating the same thing.  This is not just for losing weight but mainly for convenience and saving money.
If you could prep your meals, every other week or try it one week out of the month, this little training will stick and you will find yourself being more aware of what is being eaten and creating a more convenient and easy schedule for yourself.

Let’s try new things that will guide us through this journey of self-love.  Choose what is good for you!

thankful

With Thanksgiving coming up, we all have something to recognize and to be thankful for.  The first things we think about are our families, health, a bed to sleep in and food to eat.  These of course are a very intricate part of our lives and needed to but to be thankful for the things we don’t have yet is another level of showing God that you trust Him and that your faith is binding in Him.  It pleases Him to know that we have that faith in Him.  To be able to pray and believe what we will receive and thank Him in the process before seeing it happen.

This Thanksgiving, with all that we are thankful for, let it be known that we have that already. We have the health, our families, good job, etc.  It’s what has already been done and not what God is about to do.  It may not be in your everyday routine to thank God after you ask Him for the desires of your heart but it is definitely a requirement to do so to let Him know that He is in control and you trust that He will provide in every way.

This holiday, make sure you check out Mark 11:24.  I think it fits perfectly for continuing to make changes in your life and has purpose.  Also, work on forgiving while praying so that God can continue to work with you.
Happy Thanksgiving!

did you exercise your right to vote?

Happy Wednesday!  Hopefully everyone went out to vote yesterday.  Just know that it is definitely a big deal and our RIGHT to have a voice and help make a change.

You can’t have too much of an opinion or complain when you don’t exercise your right.  There isn’t an excuse to not take action and if this was easy to miss, other things in your life that should be important are taken advantage of.

This helps you to lose grasp on what makes sense and to lose the power and control over your own situations.  Be an advocate for yourself and make sure you stand up for something or fall for anything.  Let’s go out this year, being accountable for our actions, taking charge of your life because it could affect others than just yourself.  No matter who you voted for, at the end of the day, it is a must to take action due to the many trailblazers that came before us and struggled with making it this easy to vote.  Don’t let their work go in vain.  Be a part of the change and use this to the best of your abilities.
