For most, summer is over and school is in session, whether you’re a student or the parent.  With every new school year, job, or experience you may partake, make sure that you stay open minded to try new things and learn something that you have been curious about.  Move out of your comfort zone.  You can only grow if you are willing to feel awkward and uncomfortable when you try something new.  Make your new beginnings worthwhile, you never know where they will lead you.  When you continue to stay open minded, they eventually lead you to more open doors that you never had to try so hard to get through.

Everything happens for a reason but it won’t hurt to take that first leap into that direction.  You will always end up where you’re supposed to be in the end so have fun and enjoy living life through your journey.  Speak with different people, read a book that you wouldn’t normally read, prepare a meal that you haven’t… Anything!  This is your season of new beginnings whether you believe it or not, you have the ability to make those changes

In a few weeks, I’ll be enjoying my family reunion that we haven’t had in over 10 years.  I have a huge family from all over the country and these family reunions every two years were very beneficial to have to keep everyone in touch and close with one another.  After Hurricane Katrina, the family next in line to host the reunion had to relocate and after that, we just got off track with the reunions.  Matriarchs started to get really old and life just got the best of everyone.  Yes, life happens. We put the little things on the back burner but in actuality, they are very important.

In these times, make sure to keep in touch with family and friends.  You may not get the time back that you lost but do what you can before it’s too late.  It may have been years for us not seeing each other but I’m thankful this train got back on track of making our family a priority.  Let this be a trend for everyone.

We have been in this year seems like for a little bit and football season has already started.  What have you accomplished in these past months?  Have you been using this time wisely and making moves that will benefit you in the long run?  If so, it’s great that you have accomplished things and have used your time wisely.  If not, it's never too late.

I know we like to measure our progress by what we have done within the year but just know that with your vision and time management, if you want to see change and do something for you, then do it.  Before this year is over, make it a goal to do one big thing for yourself. Make it happen!

reflection

Reflection.  Take some steps back and reflect when poor decisions are made.  In the moment, we may be quick to act before we think.  Sometimes those actions aren’t the best but they feel good at the moment to act on it.  When those decisions aren’t the best, you’ll know because it will not feel right nor the consequences of those actions will reflect negatively.
Don’t dwell in those negative times.  Those actions don’t define who you are and make sure yourself first, and others second, know that isn’t who you are.  When you reflect, it gives you time to replay the situation and put in perspective that you can use as examples for similar situations in the future.  Make sure you reflect on containing yourself for making bad decisions before thinking it through first.  You can always bounce back. Don’t beat yourself about it.  Just reflect and do something better about it.
