It would be great if everything could be in your control, but in reality, you can’t control everything that happens.  And that is OK!  I know it’s easy to want things to work out the way you want it but when they don’t, what are you doing to turn these outcomes around?

Make the best of every situation and change it around for the better.  Most times, others don’t know that there has been some bumps in the road, so what you can do is just slow down and go over those bumps carefully and effectively. Getting stressed out about something that isn’t in your control will make you sick.  Prepare as much as you can so that when unpredictable events come around, you’re ready for them.

Remember that there are always people watching every move you make.  You are a role model, inspiration and mentor to most.  People look to see how well you handle certain situations just so they have an example to see how it should be done.

It’s great to have someone look up to you.  Everyone has someone that does, so be an example for yourself and others.  Tread lightly and don’t let life’s unpredictable events knock you off balance.  When life hands you lemons, get some sugar, make lemonade and sell it!

the grass is greener where you water it

It’s thanksgiving tomorrow! We all have so much to be thankful for.  Whether you don’t think you have as much as others, be thankful for what you have because you are blinded by what others have and go through. Think about it, it’s easy to analyze someone’s life from the outside looking in but that can be very misleading.  Those bells and whistles that you see could come with some internal battles of their own.

The grass isn’t always greener on the other side, right? Don’t stop what you’re doing for something else because it looks better. That could be one of your biggest mistakes yet. Instead of hoping and dreaming of the life of others, make it happen for yourself. The grass is greener where you water it. If you want to see changes in your life, make that change. Take control over your happiness and make it what you want. It’s easy to look over in someone’s else grass and wonder but if you take time to stand in your own yard, you can handle the upkeep of your own yard instead of giving others your time and energy that can be used on yourself.

You are given one life, make the best of it and how you want it to be.  It’s up to you how its managed.  Again, be thankful for your seasons, family, friends, and lives.  It’s a blessing to be alive, make it last.  Happy Thanksgiving!!!

a private life is a happy life

Earlier in my WIW posts this year, I touched on social media and the power it has to deter your character if you allow it.  I just want to reiterate on a few things about watching what you put out there for the world to see.  Let me remind you that even though you delete it, it has been viewed by many and probably screen shot.

Now, I barely post anything, and if I do, it’s probably once every two weeks.  I’m not saying you have to be that way, and not be yourself because I’m boring but, everyone doesn’t need to know all your personal business; especially all of the downs and negative parts in your life.  There are people that don’t have your best interest at heart and those people wait to find something to hold and say against you.  Don’t give the wrong people any part of your private life, you’ll never escape from it.

Quick example, if you and your significant other break up, no one needs to know.  Not even family because, usually it’s something that can be resolved easily.  If you keep putting bad things about your relationship on social media, and ya’ll finally become serious about it later on, your family and friends aren’t going to respect that relationship and will have a lack of faith in it due to the major inconsistencies ya’ll had before.

Also, when you post things on social media, it’s pretty similar to texting.  Most of the time, its straight to the point but the way you interpret it, can be wrong.  The interpretation of a post can be worse than what you wanted it to be and it’s hard to clear it up afterwards.  Putting so much of your personal business easily helps you lose the respect of others and it could put distance between you and the ones who care.

Lastly, if you think employers don’t search your accounts before considering hiring you, you are wrong.  That is one of the FIRST things they do to see who you really are.  You would be representing them, not just yourself and they want to see what they’re getting themselves into before making it official.  It could make or break you.

keep your word

Let’s get right into it...Keep your word guys. If you say you’re going to do something, make sure you do it and do it well. It could be something very little but still hold a significant amount of importance.

Keeping your word develops trust and security. If you would like others to keep their word and you’re counting on them to do so, then it’s only right for you to do the same. Don’t be that person that drops the ball all of the time and everyone skips you to be a part of something because it’s easier not to put up with you. You will get left out of many things and when it’s your turn to need help, you can’t seem to find people volunteering to lend a helping hand. Trust me, this goes both ways.

Keep in mind that if you have a doubt in your mind that you can’t follow through, then it’s okay to say you can’t do it. You’re not at fault. But when you say yes, that becomes priority. Be reliable, it looks good on everyone and never goes out of style.

happy november!

Happy November! We are approaching holiday season very quickly with Thanksgiving and Christmas and New Years on the way, we tend to pick up some extra weight. Everyone is happy, throwing parties, staying inside, and eating more that it seems impossible to keep that weight from adding on.

Take time to drink LOTS of water. With all of the sugar and heavy foods you will indulge in these next two months, that water will keep the water off of you. The more you drink, the less bloated you are. If you’re not taking in enough water, your body will contain it.
  • Do not sit down after you eat. Watch the times you eat, meaning, don’t eat dinner late, you’re not walking around the house or doing any activity late at night after you eat. Give yourself 30 minutes at least to stay active after a meal.

  • I know it may be hard but eat in moderation this holiday season. It’s okay to indulge and everything but don’t make it a habit throughout the day. Leave that one time in your day to indulge but have one healthy or light meal as well. Just to keep some balance.

It’s easy to get lethargic and comfortable this season. Hopefully these tips will keep up your momentum.
