MLK DAY

On MLK day, many people participate in volunteering opportunities to honor the works that Dr. King advocated and fought for throughout his life.  We must not forget that that it was Dr. King that was disruptive, he was a law breaker, he challenged authority, and he shattered the status quo, all in the name of equality, and fighting for what’s right.  What we praise him for now, was hated by many then.  And we all “celebrate” him today for the bravery he had but will be quick to question and follow behind people like Colin Kaepernick fully because it could be a touchy or very uncomfortable situation since everyone loves football.
Great works and progression doesn’t happen if we are hesitant to stand up for what we believe in because it’s uncomfortable. Uncomfortable is good and to see change, we must be the change we want to see.  It’s okay to follow passionate and brave leaders.  Leaders need back up to get them to the next level to improve our communities.  Back then, Dr. King had struggles but there is a holiday just for him. Today, we have many leaders taking a stand that we should be on the lookout for.  If it feels right, follow the movement. Be vocal about it and help make that change.
We can’t keep letting people down who sacrificed their peace for the peace for others.  Let’s not complain about what we don’t like and make sure you’re doing everything you can to prevent it.  Be your own Dr. King this year and be the crowd that marches with other Dr. Kings in your life.

MIND OVER MATTER

Obedience…
This isn’t anything to be drawn out because it’s very simple to obtain, but it takes will power and discipline to see it through.  Now that is not all that simple.
Being obedient comes with practice and building healthy habits for yourself.  Taking time out to meditate and getting familiar with your voice and God’s is important to see blessings manifest throughout your life.  If you aren’t sure which voice is whose, taking 5 minutes out of your day every day will lead you in the right direction on being able to make it out.
Also, when you spend more time with God, your voice and His become one and there isn’t a question into whose voice to listen too anymore.  I say this because sometimes we may be anxious, waiting on something, have a lot on your plate and don’t know which direction to go in.. Being obedient to that voice in your head will 9 times out of 10 save the day and maybe the whole week.  Don’t make it harder on yourself.  When that first mind pops up in your head, follow it. Do it and see how it will benefit you.  If it make sense and feels good, then act on it.
Many miss out on their blessings by not listening to their first mind, to God.  It doesn’t have to be a big victory but little victories lead to the big ones.  Take those baby steps in getting to know your voice.  It is literally a life saver.

 Happy New Year!

The year 2019 is for creativity and inspiration. The year for creative self-expression, relationships, optimism, and inspiration. What I get from this is that if there is a time to get out there and try new things, it’s now!  Start a business, join a little workout class like hot yoga, or anything that will you busy besides your job.
Don’t be hesitant for the new comings of this year and what it will bring.  You hear that every single year but actually do it and remain persistent no matter what difficulties come.  You should always do at least one thing for yourself. Make time for that!  If you want something, go get it and don’t look for the blessing and permission of someone to do it.  You will only see the fruits of your actions if you take them.  With that, of course research, plan and make great decisions if they are manageable.  Be good to yourself in this new year and have some fun.
