take control of your life

Recently, I had the opportunity to sit with some friends and coworkers and talk about our futures and purpose.  Some felt as if they haven’t found their purpose or know what direction to go in. Few, even older and more established, couldn’t say they knew what their purpose was but are very eager to find out.

I believe you will always find your purpose, if you don’t go looking for it.  We are given opportunities and experiences that aren’t always for us but for others. You just have to let some things happen and let life consume you to the point of where you allow yourself to live in that very moment every day.  Don’t question things or fight what you were given, just work with it and enjoy what you’re going through whether it’s good or bad because you allow yourself to be in control.

Like I said, don’t go looking for your purpose because you’re never going to know.  Stay ambitious and positive through all things because even the small things can manifest into something great. Something that you enjoy that it will suddenly click when you know this is what you were here to do. Don’t force it!  With me, I always have an idea or plans of my future but along my journey, even if things come up, I don’t shoot those opportunities down because they don’t look like what I want.  You don’t ever know what you want, or need. Those unexpected times can show you things inside of yourself that you never noticed and your whole plan can change.

Remember, be accepting, stay positive, and take control of your life, don’t let it run you.  Don’t force it!

October is Breast Cancer Awareness month.  Many women and men have fought this devastating disease, and during the fight, many feel like it took a huge part of themselves away.  In this time of war, remain strong and believe that you are better than ever.  Making it through the fight should give you so much self- assurance that you are here for a reason and here to stay.  Own it!  The only person stopping you is you.  When you believe in yourself, others can’t help but to follow your lead.

Yes, you might lose some physical aspects of yourself but you gain so much power and possession over your life and body that makes you appreciate and love yourself even more. You don’t need anyone’s permission on how to feel in your own skin.  No matter what battles you go through, continue to take control over your life, love yourself.  That altered physical appearance is your battle scars and that’s what makes you unique, intimidating to those who can’t understand.  You made it through the storm, stay blessed and flaunt the skin you’re in.

That’s what Wear it Well is all about. No matter what life throws at you, we want to give you that extra boost to get back to yourself after life knocks you down, reminding you that you deserve to be happy and appreciated in the skin you’re in after your life altering experiences. Believe it!

Write down your goals

You want to know why there is so much power in putting your dreams and aspirations in writing? Or even just certain tasks that you want to accomplish?  We always want, want, want, and need, need, need but all that talking and thinking will not get you to where you need to be.

Putting these wants, and needs in writing turns them into GOALS.  When you see it every day, it constantly gives you a reminder to work towards that goal because you’ll be eager to scratch it off your list.

Habakkuk 2:2 states, “Then the LORD replied: "Write down the revelation and make it plain on tablets so that a herald may run with it” (NIV).  Make it known and purposeful of what you are trying to do.  Believe that it will happen so much that even though you can’t see it, you know it’s in progress and that others will know it’s happening as well.  Just how we speak things into existence, write your GOALS down.  They may not be accomplished all at once but they ALWAYS get done!

Be Understanding

Last Wednesday, I touched on life’s race and the obstacles EVERYONE has to go through in their life’s journey and also staying in your own lane to keep you from losing your momentum.   To pick up where we left off last week, here is a little something to think about…

What is needed for a race?  Tennis shoes, comfortable clothing (something sleek that won’t go against the wind).  Maybe a good night’s sleep, nutritious meal and a focused mind of course.  Knowing that these essentials are a must for a successful race, let’s be mindful that not everyone has the right tools to run a race.  Some may have shoes that are too small, with torn soles and clothing that is difficult to even run in.  Many don’t have the means to eat enough or have the right foods, nor to sleep well and peacefully at night.  Many have so much going on personally that it may be hard to focus too.

I hope you think of this analogy of life’s race as knowing that everyone isn’t given the same opportunities and resources as you.  When you take time and put yourself in other’s shoes, you’re being supportive, lending a helping hand, and being understanding.  Love your neighbor and be a friend.  You can’t help where you grew up, exposed to great schools, family, etc.  Yes, you have the power to make changes to your life but on the way to those positive changes, it’s rocky.  Everyone has a rocky road to tread on so leave the judgements and misunderstandings behind.  We don’t need all of that.
