Eliminate Toxic Associations

Let’s try something…  Take a look at who is involved in your life.  Do they help make your life easier or more complicated?  If you hesitated or have to make an excuse for these people or things in your life, then it’s time to clean house.

Most and all of us have dreams and aspirations in life.  The journey itself is taxing but to keep your life cluttered with things that don’t help you get there will prolong the success.

Just to let you all know, these people or things are not all bad, but they’re inconvenient for you and your life.; meaning, they’re not for everyone. Some things and people are good for certain individuals. Surrounding yourself with people who don’t truly love, support and believe in you will have you thinking that you’re not good enough or not thinking straight.  You should never second-guess yourself when you’re doing what YOU want to do if that will get you to the next step in your journey.  When you start to trim the fat of things that don’t make sense and make you tired and unhappy, you start to find yourself and purpose again.  You start to think more clearly than you did before and even find that extra boost of energy that you didn’t know you had.

There may be times where you feel like you are doing everything right but bad things keep happening to you!  9 times out of 10, associating yourself with fools will present you with the same exact consequences that come with being one.  A part of your being is whom you associate yourself with and if you constantly feed off of their energy, make sure it’s positive, purposeful and convicting.

People who love you don’t tell you what you want to hear, but what you need to hear.  They may not know it all, but if they have a good heart., take something from the advice and apply it somewhere in your life.  Advice from great individuals never goes to waste, just don’t waste your time with nonsense.

Accountability Partner

If you’re in a position to where you want to see results and changes in your life but you’re lacking will power, I highly suggest getting an accountability partner.  There are many people who can get up and go without having someone remind them when and how to take action but for some, that extra push is needed.

First, you want to make sure that you are invested and determined to take action with whatever needs to be done. Stay away from close friends and family that may let you get away with certain things because there will be times when you talk them and yourself out of taking action. If there is someone at work you trust, a mentor, or anyone you listen to, they will be effective. Lastly, the best partners are the ones that want to take similar actions as yourself.  You can do them together, set goals together and make it enjoyable so you don’t have to do it alone.

Whether you want to lose weight, eat right, finish a book, or project, having someone to keep the pressure on you is always healthy.   Let’s be realistic, we can get overwhelmed and busy to the point to where we put our tasks on the back burner and we tend to settle with what we are given.  It’s great to have that partner in your corner to keep you motivated and positive throughout your process.  Make sure you find that person who gives you light when you tend to lose some for yourself.  Let’s stick together and be great.

This little light of mine...

We all may have experienced a tough time on the job, group, school or anything you’re apart of in that way.   Instead of it being the workload or the activity that is stressful, it’s the people that you’re surrounded by.

You may want to give up, and talk back with the negativity others throw at you but remember to be the light, remember that you are supposed to be there and no one can take that away from you.  Before we try to move on to big and better things in our lives, take those lessons with you that you may have learned from those situations.  They will ALWAYS show back up again, but this time, you’ll know how to manage.

There have been times to where I was constantly surrounded by negativity whether I was doing right or wrong.  Instead of letting that bad energy take over me, I tried to turn it around the best way I could to make myself comfortable.  I knew I had a purpose to be in that situation, so my job was to figure out why I was there.  Many people don’t know how to communicate and how they make others feel.  That was the situation at my last job, so I took the initiative in getting to know everyone personally, finding out their weaknesses and strengths and became the voice of my department for every individual.  Yes, it’s a lot of work but I found my strengths in it as well believe it or not.  What seemed impossible became very doable.

Don’t let situations like this intimidate you and block you from your blessings.  There is always someone watching you whether you know it or not and you will get what you deserve and work hard for.  You’ll get that promotion or better position elsewhere when you’re ready.  You just have to prepare yourself! Be the light in the darkness.

Time to plan

How are the new beginnings?  Trying new things? Feeling a little pressure?  I know with everything jumping off and getting busy, we may tend to get overwhelmed when we can’t seem to get a hold of our responsibilities and activities.  You hear all the time that you can’t help what happens to you or cant get anything done.  It’s not True!  Planning and writing things down are extremely beneficial for your journey to success…

Steps to Planning….

  1. Time management
Trust me, sometimes I feel like 24 hours in a day is just not enough!  Believe it or not, you can accomplish everything you need to when you use your time wisely.  If you’re such a busy person, you should never be bored. Use your down time to tackle some tasks on your list.  Life is unpredictable, don’t wait until the last minute to take action, you will stress yourself out more than ever.
  1. Invest in a Planner!
Now, I know I said invest in a good planner but, I think it’s best to have one so that you have something to go back and check at any time.  You can use your phone also but, make sure you write things down!  We may think that we can remember everything, but when it comes down to it, we can forget if we have too much on our minds like paying bills at the first or throughout the month, make reminders to help you.  Seeing those tasks written down will keep you on track everyday by preventing you from getting overwhelmed when it jumps back at you again.  It definitely makes your life easierJ

No matter the age, status, being a student, parent, and working, it is crucial that we keep a hand on the things that happen in our lives. We don’t want to be the person that never shows up or participates in events because we double booked or forgot because we have random pop ups! You will forget!  You have enough time in the day for all of it, you just have to make it happen.

I make my plans out for the week from what days I’m doing homework, researching, reading for work, to a perfect cleaning day, when I’m going to cook, and even watching TV! You can even plan when you go visit family etc just so you can stay organized.  Hey, it’s not hard, just give it a try, you’ll see how beneficial this planning will do for your life and you’ll have complete control.

I'm coming out of my comfort zone!

Career month is over! Even though we are through on this topic, you can take that knowledge everywhere you go.  To work, school, the store, volunteering, etc., you always want to make sure you carry yourself well because you never know who is watching!
Picture

For most, summer is over and school is in session, whether you’re a student or the parent.  With every new school year, job, or experience you may partake, make sure that you stay open minded to try new things and learn something that you have been curious about.  Move out of your comfort zone.  You can only grow if you are willing to feel awkward and uncomfortable when you try something new.  Make your new beginnings worthwhile, you never know where they will lead you.  When you continue to stay open minded, they eventually lead you to more open doors that you never had to try so hard to get through.

Everything happens for a reason but it won’t hurt to take that first leap into that direction.  You will always end up where you’re supposed to be in the end so have fun and enjoy living life through your journey.  Speak with different people, read a book that you wouldn’t normally read, prepare a meal that you haven’t… Anything!  This is your season of new beginnings whether you believe it or not, you have the ability to make those changes.

I hope everyone enjoys their first week in August. Make it a great one and see you next week!
