Last week, I kicked off WiW Wednesdays by providing some beneficial tips on how to dress for your upcoming interview and the difference between business professional and business casual.  Now that you have the look down like you’re dressed for success, we have to make sure that we are prepared and knowledgeable of the job you’re interviewing for!

Career Fair
So, say you’re going to a career fair where there are multiple employers posted around to find some good hard working people to employ.  You’re appropriately dressed, resume in hand but you have no clue who will be at this career fair, you just showed up.  You have not prepped yourself to speak with employers because you haven’t researched the company or to see what jobs are offered that fit your skill set.  Now, you can’t promote yourself like you should!
Always be prepared before you go to a career fair.  There should be a list of employers that will be there and you can map out who you are interested to speak with and what skill set and experiences you have that may be beneficial to tell them for you to land an interview.  They would like to see that you’re interested and serious about them and you want to show that you would be a good fit.

Interviews
When you have an interview make sure you do some supplemental research on the company.  It will make you look good!  Also, employers want to hear what you have done and what you can do but they also want to hear what you can do for them.  No matter what experiences you have, they are always good enough because you were called to interview but, make sure with the prior experiences you have had can correspond with the job that you’re interviewing for!
PREPAREDNESS is key!  Make sure you utilize all of your time to study before presenting.  Remember, looking for a job is a FULL TIME job.  Make sure you follow up and remain professional.  Next Wednesday, I’ll have more tips and tricks for our career month.  We will talk about social media and branding! See ya later!
