Procrastination

Find yourself procrastinating with every task?  I surely do!  I could have a month to complete it and still end up rushing at the last minute.  I tend to make excuses for continuing to procrastinate because I tend to produce my best work under pressure and with limited time.  A little stress is healthy but doing this too much isn’t always successful.  Here are some tips that work for me to help prevent procrastination.

  1. Use your time wisely
When you finally get some down time, use that time to get a little work done.  Using this free time to complete little pieces of your task really adds up in the end.  You’ll be happy that you’re not so overwhelmed with so much to complete closer to the deadline because you would’ve easily completed most of it and you will be more positive in the end to wrap it all up!

  1. Get the little stuff out of the way
We tend to procrastinate because we have so many other things to do as well.  Get the little things out of the way that don’t take too much thought or energy earlier that week or day so you can jump right into your task whenever you get that free time in your schedule.

  1. It’s not going away
Whether we like it or not, these tasks assigned to us have to get done!  There’s no hiding, running from it or ignoring it.  Nipping it in the bud will eliminate that pressure and anxiety.  It will also prevent you from messing up the other things you have to do.  Once you realize no one is going to do it but you, make some time for it by getting the easy stuff out the way and get it done on your free time!
