Who are you?

Who are you? Who needs to know who you are?  How will they know?  Why is it even important?
When it comes to branding, I like to ask myself these questions.  Businesses ask themselves this to appeal to their customers but individually, you are your own business so how do you want to market yourself?  One common and easy way to market yourself is through social media.  You get to decide what you put out in the world for people to see, and that’s great! But I will let you in on a little secret… Employers view your social media profiles during their interviewing process whether that’s after you come in for an interview or before they think about calling you in for one.

Now, it’s up to you on what you put on social media, it’s yours and you’re entitled to that but, to get that job, depending on what is out there may cost you that job.  Employers will view your resume, application, and everything could look fantastic on paper but they also want to know if you will fit in to the culture of their business.  They want to see how others view you, or how you portray yourself because, you would be representing them.  I can’t tell you how many times I have seen, heard, and participated in doing some research on a potential employee and had a bad review.  You don’t want to be in that situation guys!

Think of it like this…  For an example; men, you are new to the city and need a haircut, you ask around and gather some options, you immediately run to social media to view their business, their reviews, and seeing the multiple client’s hair before making a decision! You just don’t want ANYONE on your head right? Right.
Ladies, for an example, we all can agree that eyebrows are important and one little mishap can ruin our whole world so you’re going to do some research to find the best person to do that job.  Employers do the same thing when finding their perfect match for their business.  Remember less is ALWAYS more and keep it fun and classy.  See ya next week :)
